Each month we award the Community Member Of The Month Award sponsored by Sonnox. This award goes to the individual, who in the judges opinion, made an ongoing contribution to the Pro Tools Expert community.  This month we have awarded it to Justin Bryant, aka 'JustinB'. Over to you Justin....

I'm Justin Bryant from TimesquaredAudio.com based in south London. My background is as a working guitarist and I once clocked up 345 gigs in one year! Eventually I ended up at Rose Bruford College doing a BA(Hons) in Music Tech. My interest in cinema led me to write a lot of music for picture and now that's a big part of what I do now as a freelancer.

In 2001 I completed an MA in Sound Design for Moving Picture at Bournemouth University Media School and began working in London as a freelance post production sound editor/SFX designer/dubbing mixer. Working with agencies I've found myself creating sound and music for all sorts of productions: all the sound effects for the Sky News graphics package, a BBC2 station ident, a series for Animal Planet [all the music and sound], a couple of big animated series [sfx], and a few independent feature films. I've also engineered voice recordings for some pretty big games including  'Alien Isolation'. Currently I'm busy producing music, having been commissioned to write and produce three more production albums over the next year. Tracks from my previous albums are being sync'd all over the world. There's even one or two on the classic series 'Dog The Bounty Hunter'!  

With business interests in both music and post production camps I need a varied toolkit to say the least.  I already use the DSP version of the Sonnox Reverb which I use on just about everything. It's classy, really transparent. I also have the Inflator which is pure psychoacoustic voodoo!  Lately I'm metering all my music to K-14 for consistency and I'm keen to make my 'loud' also smooth -so I think the Sonnox Limiter has to be my next choice. 

Keep up the great work Team PTE! It's great to have an indie sound engineering forum to inform, educate, entertain… and sometimes vent our frustrations :-)

What Is The Sonnox Community Award?

As we have said on many occasions we aren’t the only Pro Tools Experts, it works best when we pull together as a community to help each other when and where we can. There are plenty of places on the web for trolls and negativity, but many of our members work hard to create a positive and supportive community of Pro Tools Experts and we think that kind of attitude should be recognised and encouraged.  With all of that in mind we are rewarding those in the community who go the extra mile to help others.
