Free AAX Native And DSP Graphic EQ Plug-in Discovered In Avid Marketplace

As regular readers will know we've been putting Pro Tools First, the free version of Pro Tools, through its paces at Pro Tools Expert in preparation for a review.

As part of those tests we've been looking at the Avid Marketplace, Avid's online plug-in store built into Pro Tools First and Pro Tools 12. Whilst exploring the store we have discovered the addition of a free Graphic EQ plug-in, which was part of Eleven Rack in AAX Native and DSP.

We successfully installed it into Pro Tools First, which in turn installed it into Pro Tools 12.

Will It Work In Other Pro Tools Versions?

We decided to test it a little further to see if we could install it onto a machine running Pro Tools 11HD.

We located the .DMG needed to install the plug-in on a Pro Tools 12 machine and transferred it to a different machine with a copy of Pro Tools 11 using a different iLok account.

After running the .DMG installer we found that the free Avid Graphic EQ plug-in worked in Pro Tools 11 both in AAX and DSP formats.

We also tried to see if simply dragging the .AAX plug-in to the folder would install it, however it does not and will throw up an error when loading Pro Tools, so the full .DMG is required to successfully install this free Avid plug-in.

So there's a nice little easter egg.
