An Insight Into Using Sounds In Sync Editor Tools For ADR For The Film "Norman"

In this video we go behind the scenes with supervising sound mixer, Jonah Guelzo as he takes us through the Dubbing Process for the indie feature film Norman. See how Jonah uses the Sounds In Sync range of editor tools. See how they can help the artists maintain perfect sync and increase efficiency in the post-production workflow beyond just ADR. From tackling ADR or Foley, helping to automate tedious re-conforms and so much more.

EdiCue Creates ADR Cues & Scripts

EdiCue enables sound editors to create ADR Cues and Department Notes within Pro Tools. It can create PDF scripts in various formats and generate files that trigger audio beeps or vision wipes to assist the recording process.

A really efficient way to create cues is from within Pro Tools. This workflow not only speeds up the process of creating cues, but these cue tracks can be used by other editors or mixers as an indication of what work is in progress.

If pictures are re-cut while cueing, cue timing can easily be updated by grouping cue tracks to edit tracks during the re-conform. Once the edit tracks have been re-conformed (either manually or using EdiLoad), the cues can be played with the new pictures to update timing or text as required.

EdiPrompt Provides The Visual Cues

EdiPrompt reads MIDI commands sent from any DAW and uses them to display a variety of on-screen prompts. It can also automate the ADR and foley recording process when using Pro Tools by locating to each cue and renaming the record track.

EdiPrompt enables you to record several cues in the one take and displays a cue’s text, prompts, counters, streamers, flutters and progress bar. You can choose to play audio cue beeps using internal or external samples and it automatically fires prompts, counters, streamers or cue beeps when Pro Tools plays and/or records using the Auto Cue feature.

EdiLoad - Conform & Reconform With Ease

EdiLoad conforms location audio, re-conforms Pro Tools sessions, imports edit data from Pro Tools sessions and exports a variety of files to aid the sound post-production process. EdiLoad v3 contains a new 'Compare' window which allows users to find the difference between vision lists and create a list of picture changes. This was previously performed using the EdiTrace website, however this new feature contains advanced VFX tracing controls to match updated visual fx shots. The reconforming features added with v3 make those inevitable picture changes so much easier to deal with. Watch our Show & Tell video with Mark Franken from Sounds In Sync to see how easy it is to use.

As Jonah Guelzo says "EdiCue, EdiPrompt & EdiLoad are an ADR and Sound Supervisors best friends no matter the size of production".
