A Pro Tools File Conversion Utility For $30 - There Is A Silver Lining To The Current Pro Tools 12 Release

If you haven't listened to Pro Tools Expert Podcast 165 then you may have missed us talking about Pro Tools 12 and one of the few merits of the recent release of the latest version of Pro Tools.

For $30 (the cost of renting Pro Tools 12 for one month) you can use it as a fully fledged Pro Tools file convertor, should you have the need to open a Pro Tools session but you don't own a copy of Pro Tools. Once you have the Pro Tools session open then you can export it as an OMF/AAF or audio files and stems for use in any other DAW. A small point to note is that as this is the native version of Pro Tools you'll be limited to any native track counts etc. but for most sessions this should suffice. However if you do have a session that has too many tracks then you could split it up into multiple sessions, so each session stays within the maximum track count of Pro Tools Vanilla.

Whichever way you want to roll, for those people not using Pro Tools, $30 is not a lot of money to be able to open a Pro Tools session, in fact you get a whole month to open as many Pro Tools sessions as you want.
