Announced January 22nd 2015, Avid Pro Tools First, a free and limited version of Pro Tools seems to be missing in action for the vast majority of users.

So nearly 6 months on and some user have recently reported receiving emails telling them that it is coming soon. In the email Avid say 'Due to massive demand we're sending out download invitations in phases to ensure the most stable music creation experience.' To be frank we are not sure why a limited version would be any more or less stable than a version that everyone was using, it may well be related to Avid's insistence that every Pro Tools First user stores their creations in the cloud on Avid's servers. If this is the only reason for Avid's explanation then it seems by not allowing Pro Tools First users to store their content locally Avid have made a rod for their own back. Of course this is supposition based on a lack of information forthcoming about why Pro Tools First is still MIA for most people.

Are you one of the lucky people to have received an email with the actual download link for Pro Tools first? If so then we would love to see a screen shot of said email. Even better we would love to hear from anyone (not beta tester) who is using it and your experience so far.

It seems that on this occasion the bible quote 'the first shall be last' may be true.
