In the days of hardware, we rarely had the option of anything other than having the link switch on or off when it came to link two compressors together to use on stereo content. Stereo linking compressors or any dynamics processor is important becasue if you don’t link the compressors then the image can move around as one compressor works harder than the other.

With software compressors we now have the option of a range of linking often described in percentage.
