Here's my find of the week I mentioned on Pro Tools Expert Podcast 194.

Last week I had an issue with a plugin and in trying to get to the bottom of it one of the support staff of a well known brand used an application to take control of my machine.

Whilst he was trying to identify the issue he needed to disable certain plugins and to do this he had a very simple way of doing it, that was to archive/ZIP the plugin in place.

In other words he took the plugin (or in fact a group of plugins) and then zipped them in the folder they already lived in. This meant that if and when he wanted to put the plugin back then he simply decompressed it in place. You can do this for an entire folder too.

There is an unused plug-ins folder for Pro Tools on your machine, but if you want to turn one, some, or all off fast without moving them out of the folder then this is a super fast way. It also means you can create a backup of unused plugins and leave them in place.

I've ran some tests and it works very well and seems to have no detrimental effect to my system performance
