Pro Tools Extra Podcast Interview With Augusta Quiney & Chris Smith from PCAM

In this extended podcast extra interview, Mike Thornton talks to Augusta Quiney and Chris Smith from PCAM about how to start out as a composer, how to work out what to charge as a composer, protect your work and much more.  If you are thinking about becoming a professional composer or you are already one, then be sure to listen to this interview as Augusta and Chris share their wealth of experience and wisdom with us.

PCAM was formed in 1982 as an industry forum for practitioners of advertising music in the UK. Twenty-five years on it boasts a membership that comprises the most influential and prolific composers in advertising and media with over a hundred members representing several hundred writers. It has become dedicated group campaigning for composers’ rights, not only in advertising but in all media (or “applied”) music. The organisation provides guidelines and commissioning models and is an influential lobbyist for composers’ rights, maintaining strong ties with other industry bodies including APA (Advertising Producers Association), IPA (Institute of Practitioners of Advertising) and BASCA (British Academy of Composers, Songwriters and Authors).

For composers outside the UK Augusta and Chris outline some of the other similar organisations in other territories in our interview.
