New Products From SE Electronics - Video Mics And More

To SE Electronics headquarters today SE Electronics announced a range of new mics.

Video Mics - Laser and more

SE Electronics are moving into the video mic market. As with all their previous products they have spent time researching and developing mics for use for self shooters and the growing DSLR market and their first offering is the Laser mic and I am holding one of the first mics here. They have designed a lightweight pencil shotgun mic that won’t upset the weight and balance of a handheld camera or you can put it on a boom pole too. It comes with a mic bag, foam windshield and short coily cable with 3.5mm jack plugs on both ends. they will also be offering a high wind cover too as an accessory.  The Laser video mic will be available at the end of June and will be £99.99 inc vat in the UK.

SE Electronics Gamma Ray, Moon Ray & X Ray.

Not happy with just one video, SE Electronics showed another video mic family with interchangeable heads offering a range of options.

SE Electronics Moon Ray

The mic above is the Moon Ray and is a pencil shotgun and the sphere on top is a figure of 8 mic so it is an MS mic all in one. This is the first mic in this sector to offer the benefits of MS stereo.

SE Electronics X Ray

With the X Ray the add on option is an XY mic array which you use instead of the shotgun. It isn’t an ‘as well as’ as the base station is only a two channel device so the MS mic is fine, but the the XY, you choose either the XY pair or the Shotgun.

SE Electronic Gamma Ray

The Gamma Ray has the option of having an AB pair as they describe and like the X Ray, it is a stereo AB mic or the mono shotgun.

Price and Availability

They are still developing windshield solutions for this second range. Delivery dates are not set yet, but prices are expected to be around £250 for the base station with one add-on option. They are also releasing a range of location accessories like a great boom pole.

3 Year Zero Time Warranty

SE Electronics also announced a 3 year zero downtime warranty package which applies to all their current products. If you have a problem with an SE Electronic product then you can take it back to your dealer and providing it is faulty, and you haven’t broken it, then the dealer will provide you a brand new replacement on the spot. No waiting to send it back, get it repaired and returned to you. You get a straight replacement on the spot.

SE Electronics SE X1 Family

They announced new members to the X1 family including the X1 USB mic which is an X1 with a 24 bit 192kHz A to D convertor that supports every platform except iOS and is available at £119 inc vat.

The X1D is a drum mic with a Titanium capsule for better transient response and will be available at £199 which is an amazing price for a Titanium capsule mic.

Next is the X1T which is a tube version of the X1 and comes in at £399.  We hope to be reviewing these mics very soon.

SE Electronics Space Pro

The SE Electronics Space is a new version of their very popular Reflection Filter. It is a little bigger than the Reflection Filter which SE have sold over 250,000 of, and with the Space they have improved their patented technology to make it even better. More on all these new products when we have it.
