PANO - Procedural Ambient Noise Orchestra

What’s that you might be asking? It is an interesting idea for creating dynamic ambience noises. It is a real-time multichannel synthesizer dedicated to dynamic ambient noises.

Current factory presets include liquid, fire and wind sounds. More are planned in the future and be posted to the Noise Makers website.

PANO is made of two parts : PanoPlayer (VST, AU, AAX) and PanoComposer (Standalone). Both can be downloaded here.

Noise Makers have produced a video to demonstrate how Pano works.

2 Videos Showing How Ben Burtt Created Sounds For The Original Star Wars Film

The first is a video with sound designer Ben Brutt demonstrating how he created the sound of the Millennium Falcon’s hyperdrive malfunction SFX in the original Star Wars film using an 8 track tape machine on which he laid up the different components.

The second is a TV mini documentary showing how Ben used a range of items like a plastic coffee cup to create the sounds for Star Wars.

Pro Sound Effects have told us that they have less than 30 discounted units available for freelance sound designers of their Hybrid Library. Until December 31st 2015 eligible freelance sound designers can buy the Hybrid Library for $1500. From 1st January 2015 it will revert to the normal price of $2500. A Sound Effect have recently released 2 volumes of sound effects recorded on location in Thailand.

Vol. 1 is a collection of Urban Sounds from Thailandfrom places like Bangkok, Chiang Mai and Nakhon Ratchasima. It features typical Street, Market, Floating-Market, Traffic-Sounds, Walla etc.
