Acon Digital Announce New EQ Plug-in Equalize With Mixed Phase Mode

Acon Digital has released Equalize, a parametric equalizer plug-in that combines unique features with  an intuitive user interface.

A Fresh Look At EQ

Rather than produce yet another EQ plug-in they have taken a ne look at what is needed in an EQ plug-in annd so unlike existing equalizers, not only the frequency, gain and bandwidth, but also the filter slope can be adjusted freely for each frequency band. The filter slope can be set anywhere from 3 to ultra-sharp 120 dB per octave.

Unique Mixed Phase Option

Equalize operates as a zero latency plug-in when using the minimum phase mode or can preserve phase relationships in the linear phase mode. Another new unique feature is the additional mixed phase mode that allows latency adjustments in the range 5 to 120 milliseconds while preserving the phase relationships as far as possible. That gives a unique control over potential pre-ringing which is a common problem with linear phase filtering.

Clear User Interface

Acon Digital have taken care to provide a user interface that is straightforward to use. Band parameters can be adjusted using handles directly in the graphical representation of the frequency response, including bandwidths and filter slopes which you can see in the demo video. There is also real-time spectrum analyzers that give visual feedback of the processing. Frequency bands can individually be set up for full, mid, side, left or right channel processing and Equalize automatically routes the audio signal internally to ensure the best results and lowest possible latency.

Equalize Highlights

  • Up to twelve independent bands
  • Freely adjustable gain, frequency, bandwidth and filter slope
  • Three different phase modes, including the novel mixed phase mode
  • Choose channel mode for each band independently (mid, side, left, right or full processing)
