When recording DI or some kind of virtual guitar box, throw a mic in the room and record the sound of the strumming action. Use this track in your mix to give a more classic recording where the guitarist’s amp is mic’d but the strumming action bleeds into the mix. It also creates some attack that gets lost in DI rigs. 

Neil says - Yup good one, also tracking an acoustic guitar playing in the same way and blending that in works.
