Community Tip - Creating a 12 String Guitar Sound With Nashville Tuning

With the support of iLok, here is another tip from the community. This one is from Shane Felton…

If you want a 12-string sound on a track but don’t have a 12 string, you can record a standard guitar then add a guitar playing the same part in Nashville tuning. Although not exact its better than any of the other tricks i’ve tried. Often the Nashville strung guitar on it’s own will add a 12-stringy feel to a song, and I keep an old acoustic Nashville strung for this very purpose, I find it sits very nicely in a mix and adds a new depth to a recording.

This worked for me in the past. The Nashville tuning is the same notes as a normal strung guitar EADGBE but the EADG are tuned with wire non wound strings up an octave.
