We have had a fair bit of conversation about Dave Grohl’s recent movie “Sound City” here on Pro Tools Expert over the last few weeks.

I was interested to learn that he would be the Keynote speaker at this years SXSW Festival held in Austin Texas.

Grohl rather entertainingly tell’s how he came to be where his is today, what planted the musical seed in his mind, how he began to record and produce his first song ideas (incedentially using the exact same “home brew” technique I had dreamed up myself as a teenage wannabe musician). What bought him to join Nirvana, find himself in Sound City Studios and on to his view of the current state of the Music industry and what music means to us.

I highly recommend taking the time to watch or listen.
