Peter Georges, the man behind the AIR instruments, has emailed to share his memories of the early days of the blog. Peter has a long history in the music industry as a journalist, founder of Wizoo and more recently UJAM, the project he started with Hans Zimmer and Pharrell Williams since leaving Avid.

We’ll let him tell the story.

“Hey Russ, I still remember getting that LinkedIn message from that guy unknown to me:

“Hi Peter, I’m in the process of creating a Blog for users of AIR Instruments, a special place for those of us who use the fantastic instruments. I would be thrilled if you would consider helping build this group and in turn develop the user base.”

Frankly, I was on my way out of Digidesign at the time, and I didn’t think that blog would go anywhere. You believed more in the products I had initiated than I (disenchanted by the corporate daily grind at the time) did at the time.

5 years later, I praise and congratulate you for two great achievements: Having identified a bunch of great products and got them the love they deserved (and more than once doing a better job than the people who got paid for it) and building a strong fan base for yourself. Amazing job by yourself and the team. I know what you can pull off, so here’s to continuing that success for years to come.”
