Community Tip - Alternative iLok Case

With the support of iLok, more tips & tricks from the community. Here is one from John Davis….

My tip relates to carrying my iLok from home to studio.  I work as a music editor and mixer, so I often pre-mix a project at home then take it to a larger studio to finish.  I was always very nervous about carrying my ilok around on the subway; I was obsessively checking it every few minutes to make sure it hadn’t fallen out of my pocket.  I was also concerned that the plastic tip that covers the USB plug was starting to crack and not properly protecting the device. It was by mixing some commercials for Pelican Cases that I discovered the perfect solution: the Pelican 1010 Micro Case.  I got one for less than $10.  I cut the foam insert to perfect fit my iLok, my Vienna Key and my USB drive (for Spanner authorisation).  The case closes securely, keeps out all moisture and protects the USB plug better than the fractured plastic tip.  The case is small enough to fit in a jacket or cargo pants pocket but large enough for me to know it’s always there.  It’s given me peace of mind on the subway or on my bicycle.
