Community Tip - Help Learning To Use EQ & Identify Frequencies

With the support of iLok, more tips & tricks from the community. Here is one from Joseph Lyons….

When I first started using Pro Tools, I would look up tutorials on how to learn to EQ.  I found a very useful tip on YouTube with a tip for learning frequencies.  He talked about setting up a session with 2 identical tracks panned up the centre and having the phase flipped on one so that it 100 percent phase cancels.  Then you insert an EQ in one and do some sweeping and you can hear that frequency soloed.

Well, I found a command for soloing bands right inside the Digi EQ that doesn’t seem to be heavily known. Just hold down SHIFT+CONTROL and click on any band.  It’ll solo that band.  Much more simpler than having to duplicate any track and flipping the phase just to hear the band soloed.
