Community Tip - Using the groups to help with your editing workflow

With the support of iLok, more tips & tricks from the community. Here is one from Kyle Moorman….

Often times I will be editing several tracks that are essentially acting as one large sound, for example a big synth stack playing the same part. There might even be guitars or bass playing along with the same stack and need to be really locked in with all their related parts. It can get annoying when these track are not right next to each other and you want to make sure they’re locked in. What I do is first of select every track in the session (opt click on an track so they’re all selected), then create a group called “on screen”, then I create a group of the just the tracks I want to deal with together called “stack” or whatever. Then I control click the group name of the stack I want to edit so it is the only thing that shows on the screen. From there I edit and get them all lined up or do whatever editing i need to do, then when I’m done I control click the “on screen” group and it shows all the same tracks I had on screen beforehand. Make sure you don’t create any new tracks during that time because they will not show up when you control click the “on screen” group. This workflow is also great for vocaligning vocals.
