Karol Urban

Karol Urban CAS, MPSE, NATAS is a re-recording mixer for television and feature films. While mainly focused on dialog and music, her path has afforded her the benefit of also mixing sfx and single mixer productions.

After moving to Washington DC in 1999, she began mixing indie films and TV advertisements as in house re-recording mixer/sound designer at Discovery Channel. In 2009 she moved to LA and began mixing scripted television dramas, including titles like Kingdom, Grey's Anatomy, Notorious) and feature films.

She is a passionate lifelong lover of sound and loves her projects completely. Her goal is to arrest her viewer’s emotions and weave the imagination of her filmmaker into the soundscape of their project. She has a special affinity for the suspenseful, fantastical, and dramatic but also fully enjoys the timing and cultural relevancy of a good comedy.

She joined Cinema Audio Society in 2008 and began contributing articles for the CAS Quarterly. In 2014, she became the Co-Editor and was elected to the Board of Directors, before becoming President in February 2019. Karol also co-organizes for the LA Sound Group and volunteers for the TV Academy.
